- DEDICATION OF THE GOLD STAR FAMILIES MEMORIAL MONUMENT -

AMVETS Post 911 Judge Advocate PPC Michael L. Emerson is the originator, build manager, and key donation collector for this Memorial. Michael also was the emcee of and spoke at the Dedication. AMVETS Post 911 was the sponsor of the Memorial. Also AMVETS Post 911 member and Medal of Honor Recipient Woody Williams designed the Memorial and spoke at the Dedication. This Gold Star Memorial of Woody's is the 29th built and the first built in California and first built west of the Mississippi river. We also had Gold Star Families, US Congressman Eric Swalwell, Hayward Mayor Barbara Halliday and other dignitaries speak. AMVETS was presented a Certificate of Appreciation thanking them for their support, sponsorship and donations. The Memorial was dedicated at Lone Tree Cemetery (who donated the land) in Hayward, California on 2 December 2017.


 


- 9/11 REMEMBRANCE AT THE FLIGHT 93 MEMORIAL CEREMONY -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Judge Advocate Michael L. Emerson spoke at the 9/11 Ceremony at the Flight 93 Memorial in Union City, CA. Michael is the originator, founder, co-designer, and key donation collector for this Flight 93 Memorial which was dedicated in 2007 in Union City, California on 11 September 2017.


 

- LIBERTY TAX RECEIVES FLAG AWARD -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Officers and members presented Tad Miller the owner of Liberty Tax a U.S. Flag Award for flying the U.S. Flag correctly and respectfully in front of their building. Hayward Veterans Memorial Building in Hayward, California on 1 June 2017.


 

- TRI-CITY VOICE RECEIVES FLAG AWARD -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Officers and members presented the owner and editor Bill Marshak of the Tri-City Voice newspaper a U.S. Flag Award for flying the U.S. Flag correctly and respectfully in front of their building. Hayward Veterans Memorial Building in Hayward, California on 1 June 2017.


 

- CHP IN CASTRO VALLEY RECEIVES FLAG AWARD -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Commander Michael L. Emerson presented the Castro Valley California Highway Patrol a U.S. Flag Award for flying the U.S. Flag correctly and respectfully in front of their building. Castro Valley, California on 11 May 2017.


 

- HAYWARD FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES FLAG AWARD -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Officers and members presented the Hayward Fire Department a U.S. Flag Award for flying the U.S. Flag correctly and respectfully in front of their building. Hayward Veterans Memorial Building in Hayward, California on 6 April 2017.


 

- CHP RECEIVES FLAG AWARD -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Commander Michael L. Emerson went to the Hayward California Highway Patrol Offices and presented Captain Pearson a U.S. Flag Award for flying the U.S. Flag correctly and respectfully in front of their building. Hayward, California on 5 April 2017.


 

- ALAMEDA COUNTY SHERIFF FLAG AWARDS -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 members went to the Alameda County Sheriffs Office in Pleasanton, CA TWO U.S. Flag Awards for flying the U.S. Flag correctly and respectfully in front of their buildings in Pleasanton and San Leandro. - CASTRO VALLEY LIBRARY FLAG AWARD -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Commander Emerson went to the Castro Valley Library and presented a U.S. Flag Award for flying the U.S. Flag correctly and respectfully in front of their building. Castro Valley, California on 27 March 2017.


 

- HAYWARD CITY POLICE FLAG -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Commander Emerson went to the Hayward City Police Department Offices and presented a Certificate of Appreciation U.S. Flag Award for flying the U.S. Flag correctly and respectfully in front of their building. Hayward, California on 21 March 2017.


 

- QUILTS OF VALOR -

During AMVETS Hayward Post 911 monthly Post meeting presented the Ladies of the "Quilts of Valor" group a Certificate of Appreciation for their great work supporting and honoring veterans. Also, during the Post meeting the Ladies of the Quilts of Valor presented Post Commander Michael L. Emerson with one of their Quilts. At the Hayward Veterans Memorial Building in Hayward, California on 2 March 2017.


 


- POST COMMANDER AT PRESIDENT TRUMP'S INAUGURATION & BALL -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 Commander Michael L. Emerson was able to get tickets to President Trump's Inauguration from U.S. California State Senator Dianne Feinstein. Since he is friends with Medal of Honor and AMVETS Post 911 member WWII Marine Hershel "Woody" Williams, Michael was able to sit with the Medal of Honor (MOH) recipients whose seats were very close to the front. Later that night Michael also was able to attend the Veterans Inaugural Ball and got a chance to meet even more MOH - A total of 15, check out the photos. In addition, Michael met Marine Corps veteran & TV star Drew Carey along with "Apprentice" TV show star Omarosa Manigault-Newman. Michael had a historic and amazing time. Washington, D.C. Friday, 20 January 2017.


 

- LANDMARK VILLA POST MEETING & FLAG AWARD -

AMVETS Hayward Post 911 chose to have our Holiday Party and monthly Post meeting at Landmark Villa - Which is an assisted retirement facility. We have many Post members who live there. We also presented Landmark Villa our U.S. Flag award for correctly and respectfully fly the U.S. Flag in front of their facility in Hayward, California on 5 January 2017.
